Trip to Next

Hello! I've been back for almost a week and Chinese New Year is in 3 days time! Seriously can't wait! All the steamboats, gambling and not forgetting, reunions with family and friends! So as one of the preparations for cny, I made a trip down to Next at Ion Orchard. I have been going to this hair salon since I was in junior college, so roughly about 4 years ago? Always been a fan of their hair wash and the way my stylist cut my hair, though some people can't tell the difference sometimes after I cut it but I love it. hahah that's all that matters right? Can't really tell from the pictures but I tried highlighting my hair this time round instead of dyeing one color for the full head. I thought it might look a little lian on me but it turned out quite gorgeous! Teehee happy!

Oh and I bought the Shu Uemura hair range for dry hair (orange one) after trying out their samples for a week plus. It works like a miracle on my hair :) Previously, I've been using the damaged hair range from Kérastase (green one) for more than half a year but it didn't really moisturize my hair. But I've read many good reviews about it, so maybe my hair is somewhat beyond repair :O Anyhow, so I was looking for something new and taadahh I found the Shu Uemura one. Hope this will improve my ridiculously horrible dry hair. Till then, have a prosperous new year everyone!

Sam

Roaming in Rome

Hi guys! After 6 months of traveling, I'm finally back in Singapore. Yay! Surprisingly the weather here is pretty cool so I don't really have trouble adapting to the change in weather temperature but my body clock hasn't been tune correctly yet :( been waking up at 5:30am everyday. Anyhow, this is a continuation post on my trip to the beautiful Rome, Italy.

We woke up early and went to visit the famous Colosseum. Gosh it was such a pretty sight :) I'm really in love with Rome.

Oh and not forgetting our daily scoops of gelato that we ate. What's an Italian trip without gelato? And that's probably how I gained 7kgs over this trip :( #fattysam #worthit. This time round we tried another two more shops, one was called Fior di Luna and the other was G.Fassi near Vittorio Emanuele station.  G.Fassi was probably the best gelato shop I ate throughout Italy and if anyone needs recommendation on which gelato shops to visit. I reckon this one will definitely blow your mind away. It was really so so so good. haha I can't emphasize enough how much.

At the end of the day, Rome is one of the best cities that I've visited in terms of sightseeing and food. The architecture and streets were captivating and I really wish I'll be able to go back there when I grow up. Two days in Rome is definitely not enough but I'm truly bless that I was there. So till our next meet, Rome.

Much love,
Sam

Home in 3 days.

BACK HOME IN 3 DAYS! I seriously can't wait to see errbardyy ^^ My dearest family and friends whom I haven't seen in the longest time ever! Well,  FaceTime or Skype sessions aren't really counted. And as much as I would like to stay here longer and continue exploring the globe, I do miss home :( So hell yeah. I'm finally heading back to Singapore after 6 months!

I've got so many things that I want to do when I get back. I even made an appointment with my hairstylist a week back. haha kiasu max. But the very first thing I want to do when I get home is EAT! Oh how I miss Singapore's food. gawd. I'm gonna stuff myself with endless slices of sashimi and countless plates of hawker food. I can even hear my stomach growling while typing this post.

Anyway, it's going to be week 2 of school when I'm back and to make things worse, I'm not staying in hall anymore :( No more roomies, or hall 9 food or taking only 10min to get to classes. Oh well. Enough of my ramblings. I've got to continue packing my luggages. haha I have no idea how I'm going to squeeze everything into 2 bags of 23kg when I initially came with 57kg worth of stuff. #wishmeluck

Exam Week

Hi again! I really should be studying right now. I've got three more papers next week but heck, I'm so bored of studying all the equations. One more week till the end of my exchange :( It's been such a wonderful experience and sadly it's all coming to an end. I will miss Glasgow so terribly much.

Today, Huiling and I went shopping for the second last time on Buchanan Street and we bought so much stuff hahha. We probably spent 5hrs shopping in heels today and boy, were we exhausted. We could have kept on going but all the stores started closing. Oh well, round two next weekend! One thing great about the UK is that their sales are awesome. Almost everything is half priced now, how tempting is that! Super duper excited to wear my newly bought clothes and shoes when I'm back in Singapore and oh I bought an outfit for CNY too! Teehee!

Will share more pictures from my trips soon! Till then, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Love,
Sam

Duck & Waffle

Hello errbardy! Haven't been posting much again cause I've been swamped with assignments and I've been traveling around different cities this December. Currently I'm in London for the new year and my schedule has been jam packed with activities, so this is gonna be a short and sweet post as well. Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! I hope you guys had a wonderful countdown wherever you are!

I have probably said this so many times but London is seriously one of my favourite cities that I've been to so far and one reason is the FOOD here! Everything, well almost every restaurant's food that I have tried looked and tasted so incredible. So I wanna share one restaurant that I really love with y'all. It's called Duck & Waffle.

This restaurant was recommended by Suet's friend and I'm so glad I got a chance to dine there. Being lazy, we just decided to take our chance to visit the restaurant for breakfast without making any reservation, which was a bad idea. When we reached the restaurant, to our dismay, we were told that they were full :( Luckily the lady told us that they had an opening for a table for two for lunch which was a half hour later, and we quickly jumped at that offer. Phew.

One thing interesting about this restaurant is that it opens 24/7, which is pretty cool. Besides that, the restaurant is located on the 40th floor which provides a view of the skyline of London. We could see the tower bridge and other iconic attractions in London.

Since we were a half hour earlier for lunch, we decided to hang around the restaurant and just enjoy a pot of earl grey and the breathtaking view.

Suet Mun :)

Happy we got a table beside the window ^^
Everything looked so tempting on the menu! It took us awhile to decide what starters and mains we wanted to try. In the end, we ended up choosing one fleshly baked bread, raw, two mains and a dessert.
Yellowfin tuna with watermelon, balsamic and basil

Caramelised onions with anchovy and caper

Suet mama dividing the portions

Duck & waffle
The confit duck was impeccable! It was crispy and surprisingly the combination of waffle and mustard maple syrup was delicious! Plus the fried duck egg balances out the sweet and savory. I loved it!
Jerusalem artichoke and truffled ravioli with turnip tops, hazelnuts and pecorino

Us :)

hehe suet acting cute

After our mains, we were really full but the dessert menu looked so appetizing that we just had to order something. So we decided to try the torrejas, which turned out to be amazing. Though it would have been even better if the cinnamon ice cream did not melt so quickly.

Satisfied with our meal.

All in all, we had a delectable meal and I would love to visit them again! The waiter attending to us was also funny and attentive. I'll give two thumbs up for this restaurant. If y'all are visiting London, be sure to give this restaurant a try! kk I gotta sleep now, gotta be up early tomorrow to catch the change of guards at Buckingham Palace. Till then, enjoy the brand new year!

Love,
Sam
